Getting colourful in Michigan

7 07 2014

Maria’s back in East Lansing for the next stage of the ‘feeding height’ experiment: finalising the cages and (tomorrow) installing the young mink.

Here are two of the 64 finished cages. Each has four different feeding levels at the front (10, 15, 18 and 21 inches from the cage floor), whose height orders are pseudo-randomised across cages. They’re edged in white to stand out in videos, and the coloured cableties are to help the mink feeders keep track of what level the animals should be fed at each day (first a red day, then a yellow, then a blue, and so on).
