…. or is anthropomorphism just a powerfully seductive force?

Apparently ‘horse people’ often use eye wrinkles to assess equine affective states, but does this have any real validity?  That’s the topic of Berne student Sara Hintze’s PhD.

There’s been a flurry of facial expression research recently (some better than others), perhaps inspired by Mogil’s work on facial expressions of mice in pain. Done well (and I think this will be, with a decent N and proper use of blinding) it’s very cool stuff. Can’t wait to see what she finds.
